Three Programs and Receptions set for the Museum

February 21, 2008 (6-8PM) - Opening reception for a special bicentennial exhibition and 1st anniversary of the Heritage Museum. Special guests will be the Brighton-Allston Bicentennial Committee.
February 23, 2008 (10-3PM) - Fundraising Flea Market/Book Sale/Bake Sale in the Smith Center Auditorium while the museum is open. Donations of all types of saleable items are needed. Everything except upholstered furniture, older cloths (only new or very gently used cloths) and toys (only antique or collectable toys) can be accepted. Donations can be brought to the museum (Noon-4:00 PM) or to the SMith Center Auditorium Stage (8:00 - 4:00 PM). Volunteers are also needed to help out at the event. March 26, 2008 (6-9PM) - Presentation on the History of Horticulture in Brighton by Bill Marchione. Presentation will occur in the Smith Center Auditorium followed by a reception in the museum. Special guests will be the Brighton Garden and Horticultural Society.

Additional programs are being planned for early April with a presentation on the History of Boston Fire-Fighting by Paul Christian, former Fire Commissioner. In late April, an "Allston-Brighton Memories" invitational conference will be held to gather artifacts, memorabilia, and photographs. The event will also feature oral history interviews. In Early May, a presentation entitled: "Water for the City" by Bill Marchione will be held at the Brighton Conregational Church.
